Peanut ukkeri: fun in a chaat-bowl

'Ukkeri' or the stir-fried pulses is an inevitable Navratri dish among Konganis. Ukkeri is very well a 'nivedyam,' a perfect tea time snack and a subtle side dish in your gourmet meal. Here is a spicy peanut ukkeri, dainty dish which also serves as a mid-day chaat.

Ingredients
200 gm boiled raw peanuts
1 coconut grated
2 green chillies chopped
1 tsp powdered black pepper
½ tsp turmeric powder
2 sprig curry leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard seeds

Preparation
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Add mustard seeds and wait till they pop
Add cumin seeds, green chilly and curry leaves
Once they are fried, add turmeric powder
Add peanuts and sprinkle salt for taste
Stir the mixture well and cover the pan for a while
Once the steam is set, remove the lid and sprinkle grated coconut
Mix the ukkeri well and serve hot with black tea
