Chemeen Karikku Curry

Prawns tempered with piquant masala and toned down by the sweet tender coconut. It's a curry worth making!

Ingredients

½ kg, cleaned prawns

1 big tsp, chopped garlic
1 big tsp, chopped ginger
½ tsp, fenugreek
1 small tsp, cumin
1 small tsp, mustard seeds

2 big tsp, Kashmiri chili powder

4 big tsp, coconut oil
5
½ big tsp, garlic chopped lengthwise
2 big tsp, shallots chopped lengthwise
½ big tsp, ginger chopped lengthwise
2 bunches, curry leaves

½ small tsp, mustard seeds

4 pieces, pot tamarind
8
½ cup tender coconut, cut lengthwise

Preparation
Clean the prawns well
Grind ingredients under group 2, namely, garlic, ginger, fenugreek, cumin and mustard seeds well. Mix this with red chili powder and keep it aside
Take a clay pot and heat oil in it. When the oil is heated, add the garlic, ginger, and shallots that are chopped lengthwise (under 5) along with curry leaves. Saute well until it is roasted and keep aside
In the same oil, heat mustard seeds and wait until they splutter. Add the ground mixture (group 1) kept aside and saute well. Make sure to not roast too much
Add pot tamarind, salt and the right amount of water. When it boils, add the prawns, tender coconut, and mixture that was kept aside (group 5) and let it blend well
Once it is cooked, take off the stove
Delicious chemeen karikku curry is ready to be served
