Idinjil kanji to nourish your body during Karkidakam

Porridge made using the bark of the idinjil tree (commiphora caudate) is highly nutritious and is excellent to be consumed during the month of Karkidakam. It eases body pain and helps you relax. It is said that this medicinal herb can heal even the internal wounds. Consuming this herbal porridge would keep away joint paints and back pain.

Grind the bark of the idinjil tree and mix it with egg white to make an excellent ointment for body pain. Just rub this medicinal mix where you feel pain and it instantly soothes it. Here's how you can easily make idinjil kanji at home in Karkidakam.

Ingredients
50 gm idinjil (commiphora caudate)
100 gm raw rice
¼ tsp salt
½ cup coconut
Water as required

Preparation
Cut the idinjil bar into small pieces and ground it well by adding 200 ml water
Boil this concoction for at least 5-10 minutes
Pass it through a sieve and add it into the boiling raw rice porridge
Add the salt when the porridge cooks well (You could add coconut milk, if required)
Add the coconut and consume while it is hot
Note: Too salty or sour food and non-vegetarian dishes should be strictly avoided when eating the idinjil kanji. It is better to consume medicinal/herbal porridges during the evening.
