Vermicelli kunafa

Kunafa is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert with a creamy texture with a crunchy crust. Here's a recipe of kunafa made with vermicelli.


1 cup roasted vermicelli

1 tbsp butter

2 tsp condensed milk

2 ½ tbsp milk

1 tbsp cream cheese

1 tbsp all purpose flour

1 tbsp grated cheese


Mix the butter and vermicelli well in a bowl

Set this mixture in a kunafa mould

In a thick bottomed vessel heat the all purpose flour, milk and condensed milk

Make sure that lumps are not formed

Allow this mixture to thicken up

Add the cream cheese and mix well to make the filling

Pipe this cream cheese filling on top of the vermicelli set in the mould

Cover the filling with more vermicelli mix

Add salt into a thick bottomed vessel and pre heat for 10 minutes

Insert the kunafa mould and bake for 15 minutes on medium flame

Prepare sugar syrup by boiling water and sugar

Add rose water too

Take out the baked kunafa from the mould

Pour this sugar syrup on top of the kunafa when it is still hot.
