ISIS links: Kerala police analyzing phone records

Trikaripur: The special investigation team probing the mass disappearance of Keralite youths, who are suspected to have joined the terror outfit Islamic State, have begun their investigation by focusing on the telephone records of the missing people.

As many as 21 youths - 17 from Kasaragod, including three kids – are reported to be missing from various parts of Kerala.

The probe would mostly focus on numbers that had been contacted by the missing people in the past. The probe is being aided by the Cyber Cell as well. Further, the numbers from which text messages or calls were received recently by relatives of the missing people would also be probed. The phones on which the messages were received have been obtained by the police from relatives. People who were close to the missing people would also be investigated.

Meanwhile, the Palakkad police have also reached Trikaripur to probe the whereabouts of two families who went missing from Palakkad. Esa and Yahiya and their families who went missing from Palakkad had visited Trikaripur many times and were particularly close to some who are missing from here.

A religious expert in Kannur and an organizer of religious classes are also under the scanner of the police.
