Jisha's murderers still at large because of state govt's incompetence: Modi

Palakkad: Prime minister Narendra Modi blamed the incompetence of the Congress-led government in Kerala for its failure to arrest the culprits behind the brutal rape and murder of Jisha, a dalit law student in Kochi.

Jisha was termed Kerala's Nirbhaya by media and the cops' inability to arrest, let alone find out the culprit, nearly a week after the crime was committed has come in for severe criticism.

“The state government did not open its eyes even after a dalit woman was murdered,” Modi told a large crowd at his first campaign meeting in the state. With the state going for polls on May 16, political parties have been trying to get mileage out of the brutal rape-murder and Modi using it to target the UDF government in the state was sort of expected.

Modi said both the UDF and LDF have been looting the state for years and he sees a third force emerging in the Kerala Assembly. The BJP, which has failed to make a mark in the state's electoral politics till now, is widely expected to open account this time.

The prime minister said his government was giving due consideration for the state's needs. He said the Centre included two persons from Kerala in the Parliament when it got the opportunity to do so.
