Thiruvananthapuram: The vigilance Friday filed a case against former transport commissioner Tomin J. Thachankary.

The case was filed after irregularities were found during a vigilance quick verification ordered into the controversial orders passed by him in the last six months.

Thachankary was caught up in a controversy over an order he passed for two automobile companies, flouting Bharat Stage emission standards.

He also kicked up a row by directing that all auto-emission testing centers in state should use the same software. It was also reported that his department waived off the penalty imposed on certain automobile dealers.

The Thiruvananthapuram special cell of Vigilance would probe the case.

The senior IPS officer was removed as transport commissioner after he courted controversy by distributing cakes and sweets on his birthday.
