Vigilance to examine documents related to Babu's foreign trips

Kochi: The Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau (VACB) probing corruption charges against former excise minister K. Babu is planning to examine the records related to his foreign trips.

The anti-corruption watchdog will examine whether Babu's trips to Kuwait and Singapore when he was the minister were with official permission, Manorama News reported on Thursday.

The vigilance will examine the aim of the trips and the persons whom Babu met abroad. Earlier, the probe agency had handed over Babu's passport to the vigilance court. Vigilance sources said the agency will get it back for further examination.

Meanwhile, the vigilance completed examining the bank lockers of Babu and his family members which were frozen as part of the probe. The investigators had found 100 sovereigns of gold from a bank locker of Babu's younger daughter, but nothing could be found from the locker in the name of Babu.
