Team IndusKochi: Society’s attitude towards entrepreneurs needs a sea change, says Rahul Narayan, who steered aerospace company Team Indus to the final 16 in the prestigious Google Lunar X Prize.
The only team from India to attain the honour, Team Indus has already won a milestone prize, called landing prize, of $1 million (Rs 60 lakh).
The start-up has grown from just four employees in 2011 to 65 in four years. The company has reached a stage where it can provide technology for giants such as L & T.Narayan says start-up energy was most visible in the small cities and towns of India.
It is great to see comparatively smaller cities turning into start-up hubs, he says.Narayan launched Team Indus after his stints with various IT companies.
He says technology is his area of expertise.Everyone has their own ideas and creative universe. The important thing is to believe in ideas and take baby steps in them. Narayan’s passion for technology helped him gain big in the Lunar X Prize, a competition to make hardware that would be a part of the space shuttle to the moon, including a hovercraft.
The company has a deadline to submit the hover by December 2017, after completing the design, manufacture and testing.
