Kerala StartUp mission The Intel Makeathon is scheduled to be held on November 21 and 22 at KSUM’s Fab Lab in Kochi.

Kochi: The Kerala Start-up Mission (KSUM) has invited applications from school students for participating in the ‘Intel Makeathon’, a two-day event organised as part of the Intel Tech Challenge-Kerala, an innovative education programme jointly launched by KSUM and Intel Technology India.

The programme is scheduled to be held on November 21 and 22 at KSUM’s Fab Lab in Kochi.

Students from classes Classes IX to XII can participate in the Makeathon, which aims to develop an interest in design, discovery, coding and computational skills among children.

Students are required to submit a synopsis/project online which will be screened by a panel of technology experts.

The panel will select 30 participants for the event. At Makeathon, the students will get hands-on training in design and coding as well as mentoring and guidance apart from an opportunity to interact with experts and evangelists.

Each project will get a technology kit (Intel Galileo) consisting of a microcontroller board with appropriate sensors, SD cards and connectors.

The winners of the Kerala challenge will get a direct entry to the Intel® Tech Challenge - India, a national contest to be held in December.

Students can register for the workshop through the official website of KSUM and submit their synopsis. Upon registration, they will be guided through an online workshop, which will introduce children to the range of online resources, new ideas and coding paradigms thus motivating them to come up with a unique project synopsis.
