Stranded calf elephant infuses joy in rainy Gavi

A stranded calf elephant, which strayed onto the Moozhiyar-Gavi road, has been guided to the forest interiors after tribespeople informed officials.

The calf seemed to have been washed away in the Sayippunkuzhi lake, which was in a spate.

It then strolled down the road and caused a bit of panic among motorists.

Goodrical Forest Division personnel was informed about the calf by locals and tribespeople.

The officials said the calf had injuries on its leg and bruises all over.

Following information that a cow elephant was also spotted in the nearby areas, officials tactfully guided the calf into the interior forests.

Officials said the calf elephant might have got lost from a herd.
