Rain: Holiday in 4 districts and some taluks today

Rain fury continues in Kerala

Kottayam: Educational institutions in four districts will remain shut on Wednesday also in view of incessant rain, which has been lashing the district for the past few days, whereas collectors of some other districts have declared holiday for select taluks and panchayats.  

Ernakulam collector has declared holiday for al schools and anganwadis in the district. In Idukki also, all schools, inlcuding higher secondary, will remain shut.

In Alappuzha, all institutes, except professional colleges, will remain shut, the collector announced on Wednesday.

Kottayam collector has declared holiday for all educational institutions, including professional colleges and anganwadis, in the district on Wednesday. There will be an additional working day in the same term instead of the holiday.

In Pathanamthitta district, all institutes except professional colleges in Tiruvalla, Mallappally and Kozhencherry taluks will have holiday on Wednesday.

All schools, including CBSE and ICSE, in Kodungalloor and Mukundapuram taluks and Thrissur West and Cherppu sub-districts in Thrissur district will have holiday on Wednesday. Schools where relief camps function will also remain closed. Instead of the holiday, classes will be held on August 4 (Saturday).

Heavy rain over Sunday and Monday wreaked havoc in Kerala, claiming lives and destroying property. The rain in southern districts was triggered by a depression off the Odisha coast.
