Plus Two student spreads fake holiday message on WhatsApp; warned

Kalpetta: A Plus Two student who circulated a fake WhatsApp message that said the district collector had declared a holiday for schools in Wayanad on Tuesday has been warned.

The message which carried the logo of an online news portal was forwarded by the student to his friends. This instantly went viral on social media.

The news had created much confusion in the district, following which the online portal filed a complaint with the police and the district collector.

The inquiry based on the complaint led to the student of a school near Kalpetta.

Later, the school authorities summoned the student's parents and warned them that legal action would be initiated if the offence was repeated.

This is only the latest in a series of fake holiday messages spread by students as well as others in Wayanad.
