Wayanad: The police are on the lookout for two youngsters from Kozhikode over the alleged abduction and rape of two minor tribal girls from Mananthavady in the district.

According to a complaint filed with the Mananthavady police, the girls, residents of an estate here, were lured into a car with the offer of giving them mobile phones. The youth then took the girls, aged 17 and 14, to Ooty. They raped the elder girl and tried to abuse the younger one in a lodge there on July 16.

The next day, the men dropped the girls at Sultan Bathery and fled.

The police have registered a case against the culprits under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, rape, attempt to rape and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

One of the absconding youth had struck a friendship with the elder girl by talking over phone.
