Youth falls to death while trekking in Palakkad

Palakkad: A youth who went for trekking along with his friends died when he slipped and fell while climbing down a hill in Palakkad on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Krishnadas, 29, son of the late Eduppukkulath Appukkuttan from Elappully, Palakkad. The mishap took place at 4 pm at Vazhukkalpara in Vadassery hills near Kanjikode.

The seven-member team had gone for trekking two days ago. By Monday evening, they ended their trek, took bath in a waterfall and were returning when Krishnadas slipped and fell, the police said.

His head hit the rocks and the body was hanging from a tree. His friends brought down the body and the police arrived shortly. Though Krishnadas was taken to the district hospital, he couldn't be saved.

Krishnadas used to work as a welding worker at Elappully. He is survived by mother Parvathy and sisters Sreeja and Preeja. Relatives said that they will file a police complaint seeking an enquiry into the death.
