Kalpetta: A woman, who got trapped on the first floor of her house as floodwaters entered, was rescued and rushed to hospital by the fire and rescue personnel. She immediately delivered a baby girl.

Sajna, 25, wife of Murshid, was at her home in Vythiri prenatal care. She started experiencing labour pains from Thursday night.

The landslide at Ammara on Thursday night brought water from the swollen Anoth river into the house. The entire ground floor was flooded and the family shifted to the first floor.

The Fire Force rescued Sajna and the others and took her in a boat to a private hospital at Kalpetta. She gave birth to a baby girl soon after reaching the hospital.
