The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced that it has restored services along MC Road via Chengannur. Rains and flash floods that hit Kerala recently had disrrupted the road, rail and air traffic in the state almost completely.
On Sunday evening, the KSRTC announced that buses bound to and from Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kottarakkara were running along the arterial Main Central Road as the floodwaters have started receding.
The KSRTC bus stand in Chengannur, one of the worst affected regions in the flood, was submerged. Several buses and the petrol pump at the Chengannur depot were damaged as they were inundated.
The services from the Chengannur depot have not commenced so far as buses in running condition have been deployed to transport flood survivors to relief camps.
At KSRTC's Thrissur depot services to Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kollam and Palakkad have been restored. Since the water levels have receded in Aluva, services to Ernakulam have also been restored.
