Kottayam: A painting of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary found refuge in the prayer room of a Hindu family as a church at Neelimangalam had to be evacuated due to the flooding.
The flock of the Mar Gregorios Orthodox Catholicate Centre had to shift out the painting after the chapel was flooded in the incessant rain on Friday. Sunday school headmaster Shiju K Chummar and team were carrying out the painting, a neighbour offered to keep it in his house.
Cheruviral Sanil Kumar kept the painting in the prayer room along with his favourite deities with the permision of vicar P U Kuruvila.
Sanil Kumar and family promptly lit oil lamps in front of the painting at the time of the evening prayers.
