3 held for duping people in the name of CM's relief fund

Kannur: Three people were arrested for duping public in the name of Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) in Kannur during the Eid fair.

The Kannur Town police arrested Rishabh K P, 27; Safvan V M, 26; and Muhammed Irfan, 23; on Wednesday night from the Police Maidan.

Station house officer Sreejith Koderi told Onmanorama that three of them were arrested as per IPC 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and remanded for 14 days. Rishabh is a habitual offender and two other robbery cases have been registered against him.

According to the SI, the scammers were holding a banner asking people to 'contribute generously towards the CMDRF'. The police recovered Rs 3,540 from the three.
