Kozhikode: Jaisal KP, who won hearts across the globe for his daring service during the Kerala deluge, received a surprise gift on Saturday. He was given a brand new MPV Marazzo at a function held here.
Labour and Excise Minister TP Ramakrishnan handed over the key to Jaisal.
Jaisal said that the gift was even beyond his imagination. “I will use it for charity purposes,” he added.
Eram Motors launched Marazzo here by handing over the first vehicle to Jaisal. Eram Motors owner Siddique Ahmed said that they had decided to launch the vehicle in Kerala by presenting it to someone who serves the humanity. Jaisal's friends Afsal and Munees were also honoured with the Gem of Sea award.
The starting price of Marazzo is Rs 9.99 lakh.
A trauma-care volunteer from Malappuram district, Jaisal and his team rescued more than 250 people and recovered 10 bodies during the rescue operations. A video showing him offering his back to help people escaping from marooned areas get on to a boat had gone viral.
The event was also attended by district collector UV Jose, Mayor Thottathil Raveendran and A Pradeepkumar, MLA.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi also had felicitated Jaisal at a function recently.
