The CPM workers created a ruckus at the police station on Friday night after the sub-inspector (SI) allegedly manhandled a CPM worker during a vehicle inspection. The CPM worker was taken into custody for obstructing the duty of officers and blocking the road during the vehicle check.

Apparently irked by the incident, party workers attacked the cops, including the SI.

The police have registered a case against 25 CPM workers, including district committee members Attipra Sadanandan and V S Padmakumar, in connection with the incident. All the party workers were booked for trespassing into the police station and attacking cops.

Earlier also, the CPM had staged protests at the Thumba police station, alleging that the SI had falsely implicated party workers in various cases.
