Kollam: The state special school festival will take place here over three days starting October 26. Around 1,800 differently abled students from schools across Kerala will participate in the events.
The festival will offer a stage to special children to display their innate talents. Those with disabilities related to vision, hearing and the mind could be seen performing traditional dance forms like Thiruvathira and Mohiniyattam. Some hearing impaired will participate in song competitions.
Competitions had been held at the district level to select the participants for the state event. The children are directly representing their schools at the state meet. The main venue of the festival is the Carmalarani Training College and there are seven other venues too.
Extravagance will be avoided during the festival in view of the recent flood. However, arrangements are in place for providing food and accommodation to the participants.
Kollam is hosting the festival for the first time.
