Fugitive DySP evading arrest as four aides arrange hideouts

Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch has found that at least four persons are helping DySP B Harikumar, who killed Neyyattinkara native S Sanal by pushing him in front of a moving car, by arranging hideouts to prevent his arrest. Harikumar, the accused in the murder case, has been missing ever since the shocking crime.

Meanwhile, Sanal’s wife and other family members will be staging a fast at the scene of the crime on Tuesday in protest against the delay in arresting Harikumar.

The investigating team has decided to question’s Harikumar’s brother again and he has been summoned to appear before the team on Tuesday. According to Crime Branch officials, Harikumar’s whereabouts would be known to his brother.

Investigators also confirmed that the accused police officer was changing his phone number every day. The four persons helping Harikumar are believed to be closely following him. The Crime Branch has obtained some mobile numbers which are reportedly used by these persons and officials are now tracking these numbers.

The Crime Branch has already arrested the son of Binu, Harikumar’s friend, in the case. Officials said that this was a pressure tactic. If Harikumar realises his family members would face action, his plans could go awry and an arrest made easier.

On November 5, Sanal was killed after being pushed in front of a moving car allegedly by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) B Harikumar at Neyyatinkara near here.
The case, which was being investigated by Crime branch Superintendent of Police K M Antony, was transferred to IG Sreejith after Sanal's family also sought a probe by an IPS officer.

Demanding a CBI inquiry into the case, the Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala had alleged that the state government was trying to derail the probe.
