Kozhikode: A DYFI worker was injured in an attack at Perambra in Kozhikode, triggering clashes between the CPM and the BJP in the district. Violence was reported from Perambra, Kuttiyadi and Nadapuram.

Kallode native Siddarth, 23, was hacked allegedly by RSS workers late on Tuesday night. According to witnesses, RSS workers who arrived in three-four bikes, first threw petrol bomb at the house and when Siddarth came out, he was hacked.

In Valayam, near Nadapuram, CPM office and their library, Vedika, were also vandalised. The boards of the CPM office was vandalised and 'RSS' was painted on the walls of a nearby house. The police inspected the spot.

Bombs were also hurled at the house of CPM branch secretary Gireesh. CPM office and library in Nadapuram also came under attack.

The district has been witnessing political violence ever since the son of CPM district secretary P Mohanan was attacked during a hartal on Saturday. The hartal was called after the arrest of Hindu Aikyavedi leader KP Sasikala, who was heading to Sabarimala.

Julius Nikithas and wife Saniyo Manomi, a journalist, were attacked at Kuttiyady when they were going to a hospital in a car. The couple suffered injuries in the attack and were admitted to the government medical college hospital.

Three workers of a right-wing outfit were arrested over the attack. The CPM had alleged that the couple were attacked by activists belonging to the Sangh Parivar.

The houses of RSS workers, who were arrested for the attack on the couple, were later vandalised. Perambra SI Dinesh, probing the attack on DYFI worker, said that the accused were still at large and they were checking if it was a retaliatory action.
