Narcotic haul: Police to probe actor Aswathi's Bengaluru links
Aswathi has been under police surveillance for quite some time.

Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram: The television actor who was arrested in a drug case in Kochi behaved like an addict, the police said. The police intend to form a shadow team to trace Aswathi Babu’s shady links to Bengaluru.

The actor reportedly told the police that she couldn't live without drugs even if she is let off.

The 22-year-old actor has been under police surveillance for quite some time following a tipoff that her apartment was being used a venue for rave parties and prostitution. The investigators suggested that the actor resorted to immoral activities to buy narcotic drugs.

The police also found out that the actor had been using her driver to transport drugs. The driver, Bino Abraham from Kottayam, had been unwittingly carrying the contraband without knowing the contents of the packets. The actor has been remanded.

She had been procuring MDMA drugs for her personal use rather than supplying to others, the police said. She likely revealed her connections with some influential persons but the police are tight-lipped on the confession.

Aswathi has spent time in an observation centre as a minor in connection with similar offences, the police found out. She has been detained in Dubai in 2016 for using drugs.

Aswathi and her driver were arrested on Sunday from the parking lot of her apartment at Palachuvad. The police team led by sub inspectors A N Shaju and Shabab Kasim also seized narcotics from them. The police later recovered more drugs from her apartment. She moved into the apartment a month ago.

Aswathi’s mother and another woman from Gujarat were present in the flat at the time of the raid.
