NORKA express service a boon for healthcare professionals

Nurse

The express recruitment service started by Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA) Roots is turning out to be a huge hit, offering a hassle-free window for healthcare professionals.

The NORKA Roots had begun this initiative in February to cut out the role of mediators and for ensuring a transparent recruitment system.

Twenty nine of the 50 nurses who were recruited at Al Mouwasat Hospital in Saudi Arabia will take up their jobs soon. The next recruitment will be held by May-end.

What is express service?

Generally, it takes six months to complete the procedures for jobs abroad. However, the NORKA express service expedites the process and has the procedures completed in a matter of days. The delay is considerably reduced by opting for video-conferencing and Skype interviews. The video-conferencing is held twice in a month. Opportunities are available for BSc nursing graduates with one year of experience and GNM nurses with two years of experience. The recruitments are currently being held foor Al Mouwasat Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Recruitments to hospitals in other foreign countries, including Kuwait, will soon be held via the express service.

“The express service aims to provide legal, secure and transparent recruitment at the earliest," says NORKA Roots CEO K Harikrishnan Namboothiri.

No application fee

The notice of express service recruitment will be given in all major newspapers and NORKA website (www.norkaroots.org). Candidates should then email their resumes to rmt4.norka@kerala.gov.in. Even if there is no notice for recruitment, candidates can send in their resumes. Qualified candidates will be called in for interviews. Twenty-five candidates will be called for interview in a single day. There is no application fee.

However, the service charge of Rs 30,000 and the GST set by the external affairs ministry will be levied from those who are selected for the jobs.

1,283 recruitments have been made so far

Ever since it got the licence foreign recruitment service, NORKA has been able to find jobs for 1,283 people, who include staff nurses (1,037), technicians (41), doctors (10) and domestic labourers (195).

The recruitments are currently being held for the posts of doctors, nurses and medical technicians in countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Kuwait. Nursing recruitment to National Health Service hospitals in England is also on.
