Anchalamoodu, Kollam: A newly-wed couple who had got married three months ago was found dead in their bedroom when the girl’s parents visited the couple.
Vishnu, 23, belonging to Vishnu Bhavan, near Madathil Kavu, Chemmakkad, Panayam in Kollam district and his wife, Arya, 21, hailing from Puthoor, were found hanging in their bedroom at 4 in the evening on Sunday.
According to the police, the couple had got married against the wishes of the girl’s family and was living at the home of Vishnu, a dancer. On Sunday, Arya’s parents had arrived to visit their daughter on hearing that she was pregnant, but the door of the bedroom was found locked. Vishnu’s father was also home at the time.
When there was no response, the door was forced open to reveal the couple hanging from a shawl. They were brought dead to a private hospital nearby in a police jeep. The dead bodies were kept at the mortuary of the District Hospital. The last rites were held on Monday.
The reason for the extreme step is being investigated.
