Kozhikode: The authorities are keeping a close tab on mid-day meals served at schools. Hereafter, if school authorities do not inform how many students will be provided mid-day meals every day, schools won't get money for the same. However, the education department has found that most educational districts are not prompt in conforming to the order even though it has been a fortnight since the reopening of schools.

Schools have to submit the number of students who will be provided mid-day meals by 11 am otherwise they won't get the money, according to the general education department.

The Union human resources development ministry needs to be provided the details of mid-day meals every day before 2 pm. Schools need to comply with this rule in order to get the funds from the Centre.

The information needs to be submitted using the automated monitoring system. The money will be allotted based on the daily requirements. The decision to seek online details came into force from this year.

Though it has problems of internet connectivity, only Wayanad district is providing the details on time. Among sub-districts, Harippad is ahead.

The director has sought action against all educational deputy directors and mid-day meal supervisors if they do not carry out a review of the daily numbers.
