Thiruvananthapuram: The three accused in the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) police test fraud – R Sivaranjith, PP Pranav and Naseem – were sent answers via phone, policeman Gokul informed the Crime Branch. Gokul who was taken into police custody on Tuesday confessed to the act during interrogation.
The fraud was planned from a PSC coaching centre, where his relative worked, Gokul told police. Pranav, a former SFI leader ranked 2 on PSC list, masterminded the entire operation.
After his surrender on Monday, Gokul was taken into custody by the Crime Branch and questioned by a team led by IG S Sreejith and DYSP K Harikrishnan. However, he was not clear as to how the questions were leaked. The team has reservations about Gokul’s claims, including the statement that he searched the internet for answers.
The credibility of the PSC has been sullied recently after irregularities in the conduct of the police recruitment exam were reported in the wake of a probe into a stabbing case reported from a college located in the Kerala capital.
University College Akhil was stabbed by Sivarenjith, Naseem and their group, all attached to the CPI-M-affiliated student wing Students Federation of India (SFI). The commission has been facing flak for copying 'questions' besides permitting blatant copying amongst candidates during the examination.
The Crime Branch, specialized investigation wing of Kerala Police had decided to seek results of all recruitment exams held by the commission in the past few years.
