Manorama photographers win top PII awards

_{New Delhi: Malayala Manorama has bagged two top awards for national media constituted by the Press Institute of India (PII) and the International Committee of the Red Cross.}

_{Manorama chief photographer (Kottayam) Rijo Joseph and Mathrubhumi photographer (Kottayam) G Shivaprasad shared the first prize (Rs 1 lakh) in the photography category. Manorama senior photographer Rinku Raj Mattancheriyil bagged the second prize (Rs 70,000). The third prize (Rs 40,000) went to Bibin Xavier of Deepika.}

_{Rijo and Shivaprasad won the prize for their photos from the August 2018 floods. Just before the last shutter of the Idukki dam was opened, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel had run across the Cheruthoni bridge, holding on to an ill child. The duo had captured the daring moments that eventually won them the top award.}
