S Surendran, DIG, Thrissur Range

Thrissur: In a bizarre incident, seven of eight girls, who were reported missing from Thrissur district within a span of 24 hours, were traced immediately by the Kerala police.

According to S Surendran, DIG, Thrissur Range, the seven had eloped with their boyfriends. However, one minor girl had left her home due to troubles in her family.

Police said that the seven girls had first come in contact with their boyfriends through social media. One girl from Chalakkudy had run away with a neighbour. The missing cases were registered at Puthukkad, Mala, Pavaratty, Chalakkudy, Wadakkancherry and Ayyanthole police stations and the girls were traced with the help of the Cyber Cell.

Though the police located all the girls, the cops had no further role except to inform their family that they were traced. This is because the seven girls are all above 18 years of age.
