Bullet shell found in Guruvayur temple 'hundi'

Guruvayur: Cops may have to further tighten the security at the Sri Krishna Temple here in Kerala's Thrissur district as an empty bullet shell was found in an offering box (hundi) on Tuesday.

The shell casing was noticed when the two hundis in front of the sanctum sanctorum were opened in the morning, a police official said.

A case has been registered and an investigation is on, he added.

As per the report of the chief security officer of the Guruvayur Devaswom, the bullet, which can be used in a 9mm pistol or a sten gun, was found while the temple employees were counting the offerings in the hundis marked F-6 and F-7. They informed the police immediately.

We will request the police to strengthen the security arrangements at the temple, Devaswom chairman K B Mohandas said.
