Muvattupuzha: In a bizarre incident, a teenager was bitten by a viper that had been hiding in his shirt.
Class-nine student Jinson Augustine, son of Justin of Kadalikad near Muvattupuzha in Kerala's Ernakulam district, had the biggest scare of his life as the poisonous snake bit him on his eyebrow.
The incident happened around 7pm on Sunday at Jinson's house at Kadalikad. After bath, Jinson picked up a shirt that was spread out on the clothesline to dry. As he put on the shirt, the snake latched on to Jinson's eyebrow. The teenager, however, managed to catch hold of the snake and threw it away.
His mother ran to his aid on hearing his screams. She promptly took him to the hospital where his life could be saved.
Dr Aji Balakrishnan of the Charis Hospital at Muvattupuzha attended to him. The doctor advised that as the snake had bitten him on the eyebrows, the boy should be kept under observation, though he was out of danger now.
