Kasaragod: One-year-old Mohammed Sayan had a miraculous escape after he accidentally fell into a bucket filled with water.

The toddler’s family can’t thank enough A Nimsha, a nurse at the General Hospital, whose timely intervention helped save the life of the little boy.

Sayan is the son of Mariyambi and Abdul Karim, who is abroad. The family resides at Melparamba in Kasaragod district.

The little boy had fallen headlong into the bucket in the bathroom while he was playing around on Thursday night. His four-year-old sister saw the boy grappling for life and alerted the mother.

Mariyambi rescued the child and ran to the Nimsha’s house in the neighbourhood. By then, the child's heartbeats had almost stopped, and lips had blackened.

Nimsha immediately gave first-aid to the child and performed Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Nimisha's sister Anisha, a nurse at the Kalanad primary healthcare centre and two other General Hospital nurses, E Sheeja and E Biji, also helped to revive the child.

Nimsha's husband N Navas then took the child and the nurses in the car to the General Hospital, which was 6km away, in 10 minutes.

The child is recuperating at the hospital.
