Kozhikode: A 32-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter were among those killed in the Karipur plane crash on Friday. Family and friends mourn the death of Ramya Muraleedharan, a native of Kozhikode, and her daughter Shivathmika.

Her son, Yadudev who had also travelled along with them, was admitted to the MIMS Hospital in Kozhikode. His health condition is said to be stable now.

Ramya and the children lived with her husband Muraleedharan in Dubai. He runs an AC maintenance firm at Ras Al Khaimah.

The family had last visited home eight months ago after his father's demise.

As the schools were shut for holidays, Ramya and the children left for their native place. They were seated in the front row of the plane. Ramya and the younger daughter, who suffered grievous injuries in the accident, died en route to the hospital. Their funeral would be held at their house premises at Cheekkonnu in the district. Muraleedharan has also returned home.

Ramya is the daughter of Raveendran, a native of Kodenchery, and Rama. Ramith is her brother.

The Air India Express flight overshot the tabletop runway at the Kozhikode International Airport in Karipur, fell into a valley and split into two on Friday night.

Eighteen people, including both the pilots, died in the accident.

The Centre has said that a formal enquiry will be conducted into the incident by the AAIB, which was formed in 2012 as an independent accident probe committee under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
