Revised rates come into effect at Paliyekkara toll plaza

Thrissur: Revised toll rates came into effect at the Paliyekkara toll plaza along the Mannuthy-Edappally National Highway from Tuesday (September 1).

Though the rates of car, jeep and van have not been increased, the single-journey rate of vehicles in certain categories has been hiked by Rs 5. The fee for the monthly pass will see an increase from Rs 10 to Rs 50.

The toll rates at Paliyekkara are annually revised on September 1, based on the changes in the wholesale price index of the financial year.

The rate for light commercial vehicles for a single journey has been increased from Rs 125 to Rs 130. However, there is no change in the rate of Rs 190 for multiple journeys within a day.

Also, the rate of single journey of bus and truck remains at Rs 255. However, the rate of multiple journeys in a day has been increased from Rs 380 to Rs 385.

One-way journey rate for multi-axle vehicles is Rs 410 and Rs 615 for multiple journeys in a day. These rates have not been changed.

However, complaints have been raised that though the toll rates are periodically revised, the quality standards are not maintained.
