Kollam man hangs himself day after bodies of wife, son were found

Kollam: A young man was found dead at his house on Tuesday, a day after the bodies of his wife and son were recovered from the backwaters.

Siju was found hanging at his house at Edavattom in Kollam.

His wife Rakhi, 22, and three-year-old son Aadhi were found dead on Monday. A private bus conductor, Siju had been on the run after the incident.

Relatives and neighbours alleged that Siju, in an inebriated state, used to brutally assault his wife. They got married four years ago.

Perinad native Rakhi reportedly jumped into the Ashtamudi backwaters near Kundara along with her son.

Neighbours had seen Rakhi and the child leaving the house around 4pm on Sunday. Children, fishing by the backwaters, had also spotted the mother and son around 5pm. After neighbours spotted their footwear on Sunday morning, they informed the police.

The bodies were recovered in the subsequent search.
