Mamtha is Malayalam’s answer to Simran, if you ask S.B. Satheesh, the costumer. Simran is known in fashion circles for her enviable figure which suits every kind of costumes with ease. Mamtha has similar qualities. The lissom lady is more attractive in fashionable dresses. Satheesh says those qualities made his job easier while designing for Mamtha’s character in ‘Two Countries’.
No wonder, Mamtha’s crop top and pencil skirt grabbed the eyeballs while the movie went on to become a hit with the audience.
The jacket
The jacket is a must-have item in the wardrobe of Westerners. Mamtha wears it with elan. This was perhaps the most talked-about item in ‘Two Countries’.
The jacket is guaranteed trendiness whether it is worn with a jeans, frock or skirt. Ankle-length jackets are the new “in thing”. Laced jackets are also in demand. If you want to add to the oomph factor, keep it unbuttoned.
Jacket may not be that suitable to the tropics but it is worth a try in the winter months of December and January.
The pencil skirt
The pencil skirt never goes out of style. It has seen trends come and go over the years. Pencil skirt is popular as an office wear. It stays smug on curvy girls. It suits lean and tall women.
Mamtha’s looks in the movie were enhanced by the pencil skirt, along with a crop top and a stole.
The crop top
The star of the 80s has made a glorious comeback. Mamtha turns the spotlight on the trendy costume in her comeback movie. The top is scandalously short, bordering on sexiness. It can be worn with a jeans, palazzo or a skirt. It works wonders on tall women such as Mamtha.
Satheesh procured almost all costumes for Mamtha from Kochi itself. Some of it came from Chennai. Mamtha had also brought some dresses from the United States to live up her character.
