Six home remedies that could help you get rid of wrinkles

Wrinkles occur when the collagen and elastin in the skin become weak and break. It can also be caused by other factors like harsh sun exposure, smoking, use of drugs, stress, sudden weight loss, lack of vitamin E and other genetic reasons.

Onmanorama lists six natural remedies you can try to get rid of those wrinkles:

1. Olive oil

Why: It is rich in antioxidants like vitamins A and E. It can moisturize the skin and even regenerate skin cells.

How: Gently massage olive oil in the affected areas. Also try mixing a few drops of honey and glycerin in olive oil and massage your skin twice a day. You may also use coconut oil, almond oil or Vitamin E oil for the same benefits.

2. Fenugreek

Why: Fenugreek works as an antidote on different skin types when it comes to wrinkles.

How: Grind a few fenugreek leaves to form a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face overnight so that the minerals are absorbed by the skin. Wash it off with plenty of water. You can also wash your face with water boiled with fenugreek seeds or even apply fenugreek oil on your face.

3. Aloe vera

Why: Aloe vera contains malic acid that helps reduce wrinkles. It also improves the elasticity of the skin.

How: Cut aloe vera from the plant and make it into a gel. Apply the fresh gel on your face and let it set for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water. Also try mixing a vitamin E capsule with aloe vera gel while applying it on your face.

4. Ginger

Why: Ginger has high antioxidant properties in it making it a great solution for wrinkles. It inhibits the breakdown of elastin.

How: Mix a pinch of grated ginger and with honey. Consume this mixture every morning. Also drink ginger tea twice a day.

5. Bananas

Why: Bananas are rich source of antioxidants. It rejuvenates your skin.

How: Mash two ripe bananas into a thick paste. Apply this paste on the affected areas for half an hour and wash. Use this remedy twice a day.

Also try mashing a banana with avocado and mix it with some honey. Apply the mixture on your face and let it set 20 minutes before washing it off.

6. Almonds

Why: Almonds are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin E, iron, zinc, calcium, folic acid and oleic acid that has properties which delay the aging process.

How: Soak almonds in water overnight. Remove the peel and grind it into a fine paste. Apply the paste on your face. Wash it off after 30 minutes. Repeat it daily for the best results. You can also massage your skin with almond oil everyday.
