They say piercing is a must to rock that edgy look. No wonder youngsters are so crazy about this all-new fad. Ear, nose, septum, navel, eyebrows, tongue... you name it: the punk kids have no qualms in getting it done anywhere on the body.
Here, Onmanorama lists out a few simple tips to take care of your piercing.
1)Wash it clean with mild soap or saline solution.
Clean your piercing with mild soap or saline water until it is fully healed. Do not use alcohol or astringent as they only dry the tissue, causing the wound to bleed and remain unhealed.
2)Twist the piercing only when it's wet
To check if the piercing has healed, turn it slowly. But make sure that you do it only when your piercing is wet.
3)Do not touch it
Do not touch the pierced area unnecessary as it may cause soreness and pain. Touching your piercing will only prolong the healing process.
4)Avoid makeup
Avoid make up on the pierced area. Abstain from using lotion, spray, body cream and other personal care products near the piercing.
5)Get rid of crusts
There might be a discharge of a yellow colored fluid called lymph from the pierced skin. This is quite normal as the skin gets hardened. The crusts can be removed using soft cotton balls dipped in saline solution
6)Healing takes time
It is normal to experience some soreness or redness in the initial days after piercing. Piercing can normally take upto three months to heal completely even though it might look healed from outside. Do not change the jewelry until it is perfectly healed.
