Building a house in a small plot is always challenging and requires meticulous planning. Shibu, a native of Kozhikode wanted his dream dwelling to look chic and classy and have all the required facilities as well. However, the house had to be constructed on a 2.45 cents plot at Bhatt Road.

The architects were confident to take it up as a challenge and designed an elegant house which has an area of 1270 sq ft. The house has 4 bedrooms, a foyer, living – dining area, kitchen, work area and an up stair living space. One can enter the bedrooms in the ground floor from the dining area. There are 2 bedrooms, a common bathroom, a living space and a balcony on the first floor.

There is a work area in L-shape adjacent to the kitchen. The construction of the foundation was quite expensive as the plot is located on a marshy area closer to the sea coast.

The walls were built using red mud blocks and cement plastering. The main entrance door is made with ironwood and the rest of the doors in the interiors are readymade. Avoiding false ceiling and paneling helped keep the expenses at bay.

The construction of the house was completed within a short span of time and this too helped lower the budget. The cost of construction didn’t exceed the estimated budget despite using high quality materials and decor. The construction of this charming house was completed in 2017 within a budget of Rs 12 lakh.
