The stunning house that sprawls in a 21 cents L-shaped plot looks like a single-storied one though it is double storied.

When Hameed decided to build his dream abode at Kondotty, a bucolic countryside in the Malappuram district, Kerala, he didn’t want it to tower over other houses in the surrounding area. However, he insisted that the house should have all the modern facilities. The stunning house that sprawls in a 21 cents L-shaped plot looks like a single-storied one though it is double storied. This house has been built on multiple levels, making sure that it looks modest yet stylish.

The concrete texture, laterite claddings and the glass wall on the parapet are all beautiful features that highlight the elegance of the exteriors. The roof is designed in an amazing blend of flat and sloped designs, paved with slab. The front yard, paved with Bangalore stone look tidy and well kept. There is a water body between the car porch and the sit-out. A bridge, in deck wood, has been built across it.

This scintillating house, designed in 3600 sq ft area, has a sit-out, foyer space, formal and family living areas, dining area, kitchen and two bedrooms in the ground floor, and two bedrooms and an open terrace on the upper floor. Though the car porch is built separate from the structure, it is closer to the house. The laterite claddings are repeated on the car porch too, which make it look equally stylish.

There are two entrances for this house which are designed as door-cum-windows. One of them leads to the formal living area while the other opens to the interior spaces. The courtyard is in between these two doors. Synthetic grass has been paved on the floor here and is decorated with indoor plants. There is a pergola glass roof above it which brings natural sunshine into the house.

A couch and a coffee table are the only pieces of furniture in the formal living room. The corner sofa, decked with fabric upholstery, is spacious and can comfortably accommodate more number of guests. The family living area is arranged on the opposite side, beside the stair area. This area is designed in double height which makes it look vast and spacious. The TV unit and the sitting spaces are done in plywood, veneer and mica finish. Meanwhile, the partitions are made using GI pipes. The vitrified tiles, paved on the floor, grant the interiors a chic and stylish look.

The stair way features a unique design, with the frame built using GI pipes and tread wood steps. The hand rails, meanwhile, are done in the classic combination of toughened glass and wood. This helped in saving space and considerably reduced the use of concrete as well. The patio is opposite the stairway and a GI sheet has been used as the sliding door here. A GI pergola is built on the roof here with glass sheet paved on it. Tiles and synthetic grass are alternatively paved on the floor in the patio.

The dining table is made using plywood and veneer, and its design is quite eye catching. The table is designed as if it continues first to the wall and then to the ceiling. The glass top completes the elegant look of the dining table. The hanging lights here are charming and add the perfect light setting here. There are lots of storage spaces in the incredibly vast kitchen. The cabinets are made in plywood and have mica finish. Meanwhile, nano white is paved on the counter top.

There are two bedrooms in each floor. The upper storey bedrooms have separate balconies as well. The master bedroom is in the ground floor. Attractive wall paper and furnishings in plywood veneer adorn the bedrooms.

This stunning house amazingly reflects the warm friendship that is shared by the owner and the designer.
