The stunning features of the traditional and the contemporary architectural styles are amazingly blended to make the exteriors stand out.

Raveendran, a businessman based in Mumbai, had done thorough home work when he decided to build his dream abode at his hometown in Thampuranpadi near Guruvayur, Kerala. He wanted the house to be built with unique features which make maintenance incredibly easier as the family visits Kerala just twice or thrice in a year.

Besides, the house has all the modern facilities to make his retirement life, in the future, comfortable and pleasant. Thampuranpady is a beautiful countryside where the charming nature and lush greenery offer scintillating sights. The family wanted their brand new house to be perfectly in sync with the surroundings. Architect Riyas, who designed this charming house, made sure that all these demands were met in the most amazing way.

The structure is constructed by leaving enough space in the front to design an attractive landscape. The front yard is paved with natural stones and grass. The stunning features of the traditional and the contemporary architectural styles are amazingly blended to make the exteriors stand out. Truss work is done over the flat roof and is paved with shingles. The space between the roof and the truss makes sure that the heat doesn’t enter the house, thereby keeping the interior spaces cool and comfortable.

The portico that projects from the façade is the highlight of the exteriors. This is also the liveliest spot where the family members love to gather whenever they are home for the holidays. The spacious sit out and the verandah makes the house look truly majestic. The interior spaces are designed in the semi open style, which ensures excellent cross ventilation as well.

This amazing house, designed in 5000 sq ft on a vaster plot, has formal and family living areas, dining hall, kitchen with adjacent work area and four bedrooms. The interior spaces have been arranged by strictly following the rules of the vastusastra. The positions of the pooja space and the kitchen holds special significance as the family wanted them to be built based on the vastu rules at the perfect spots.

The dining hall is spacious with a classy dining table as the centre piece. Here, up to six guests can be comfortably seated. A crockery counter completes this beautiful area. The roof above the stair area is designed in double height which makes the interiors look vaster and spacious as well. The pergola skylight here lets in lots of natural sun shine that illuminate the spaces. There is a small closed courtyard below it which is very cosy.

An aesthetic experiment can be perceived in the way in which the flooring work is done in this house. An interesting blend of granites, marble and vitrified tiles make the interiors look stylish and chic. The false ceiling done in gypsum and veneer finish is highlighted with lightings in warmer tones. This gives a serene look to the house, especially in the evenings.

The custom made furniture perfectly suits the general theme of the house. Wood has been lavishly used in the furnishings which add a regal charm to the interiors.

The stairway leads to a small upper living area. The specially designed sound proofed walls of the home theatre ensure a unique cinematic experience.

There are two bedrooms each in both the floors. All the bedrooms are bath attached with in – built wardrobes for storage.

The cupboards in the modular kitchen are made using marine plywood. Granite is paved on the counter top. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen space.

This majestic house has been designed catering to the interests and likes of the family members. The beautiful abode, with its luxurious and comfortable spaces, awaits the arrival of the family to make them feel at ‘home’.
