European sofa brands that set international standards in luxury, design and technical perfection are conquering Kerala's premium furniture market.
Demand for these luxury sofas are increasing owing to their durability factor. A fine European sofa brand is expected to last a lifetime. Sofa sets, made in European leather and fabric, and available in more than seven hundred shades, have always been a symbol of aristocracy. These products undergo at least 400 quality tests before reaching the market.
In countries such as Italy, Germany and Norway furniture including sofas, recliners and home theatre seating is a product of art, science and technology. Furniture makers in Europe include big players such as the manufacturers of seats for Rolls Royce cars.
There are a number of companies in Europe those have at least a century of experience in sofa and armchair manufacturing.
"Fifteen international brands are available in Kochi. They include well-known Italian brands such as Natuzzi, Tonin, Calligaris, Alfa, German brands Koinor and Dekker, known for their design and technology, and stress-free recliners which are Norway's pride, are also available in Kochi," said Maruti Rao, managing director of Simply Sofa, Kundannoor.

A sensor that takes its commands from controls placed at the sides of the sofa makes adjustments in seating positions to achieve the desired level of comfort. Sofa-cum-beds or Home Serena, feather-filled sofa made on a wooden frame or Opera Style, half-moon shaped Platio, arm chairs in European classical design and so on are available.
According to Rao there is a huge demand for automatic recliners, international designer sofas and sofas made in soft leather.
Those who can afford to spend at least Rs 1.5 lakh can get these posh pieces of furniture to grace their living rooms. These sofas and recliners will add beauty to big budget homes, apartments, luxury resorts, corporate offices and home theatres.
