Deepika Padukone, who gave birth to a baby girl on September 8 in Mumbai, recently made her first post-delivery appearance in an interview on mental health. The talk was part of the LiveLoveLaugh Lecture Series 2024, and the actress explored mental well-being in detail alongside divulging some personal experiences. Deepika, who fearlessly opened up about her battle with depression many years ago, said in the recent interview, "Very often, we hold on to things. I think it's normal and human to feel pain, anger and such extreme emotions and learn from them and move on."

Deepika remembered quite a few bad reviews in 2007 after her debut movie, Ohm Shanti Ohm, was released. Interestingly, she specifically remembers a particularly poor review that pushed her to work on herself. The review apparently spoke about her actions, diction, talent, and capabilities. "Negativity is a good thing, sometimes. It's what you make of it. It's about what you use with that criticism and also realising the improvement process won't happen overnight," said the Pathan actress.

Taking a break is important
Explaining that recovery is significant for peak performance, Deepika said it's wrong to interpret someone who makes time for themselves or takes a weekend off as not driven. She observed that every person's output level can be different and varies from individual to individual. Quoting her own example, Deepika said that when she doesn't get enough sleep, it affects her decision-making skills.
