Here are a few natural medicines to tackle some of the most common health concerns:
Voice block
►Take ginger mixed with jaggery
►Chew down liquorices
►Fry and grind cumin and have it in honey
Phlegm
►Have honey, ginger juice, basil juice and onion juice mixed together
►Steam inhale with basil leaf two or three times a day
Tooth problems
►Take a little each of mukkutti (biophytum) along with its root, cinnamon leaf, basil stalk and boiled turmeric. Grind these in honey and apply on the gum to stem the blood flow from the gum and also stop tooth pain and bad breath
►Grind the root of cherukataladi (prickly chaff flower) and mix it in buttermilk. Filling the mouth with this mixture will help to heal gingivitis and bad breath
►Bishop’s weed concoction taken with jaggery is good
Mouth ulcer
►Have buttermilk mixed with turmeric and curry leaves.
►Have curd
Eye problems
►Pour juice of little iron weed mixed with honey in the eyes
►Pour drops of tender coconut paste
►Wash the eye with water boiled by adding thetamparal. This is good for giving luster to the eye and reducing the swelling of the eyelids
►Take water boiled with tamarind and kept in earthen pot
Persistent sneezing
►Take Bishop’s weed decoction mixed with palm jaggery
►Ginger juice can be taken mixed with honey
Stomach ailments
Constipation
►Have Senna leaf boiled together with basil stalk
Diarrhoea
►Have ginger juice with asafoetida powder added.
►Have black tea with lemon juice added.

►Have milk boiled with popped thumpa flower and dried ginger.
►Have galanga ground with a drop of water.
