Thiruvananthapuram: It is common for old students to come together and do something for their alma mater. But, this story is not about a bunch of students doing something for their own school. The 1998 batch of students from the Holy Angels Convent school, has come out to help the students of Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary School in Thirumala. This is their story.
The group, calling themselves 'Helping Angels' has provided a sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator for students at the Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary School in Thirumala.
As part of the project, students from classes 8 to 12 were given awareness lessons on menstruation and were shown educational videos. 'Menstrupedia,' a book on care during menstruation days, was donated to the school library.
The program was inaugurated by the higher secondary school head-mistress Preetha Jasmin and plus two principal Rajashree. Dr. Reena and Dr. Anuja, both from the 1998 batch, and members of the 'Helping Angels' conducted classes on health care.
Dr Indi, Sinara, and Sreepriya, also members of the group, said that they had used social media to connect and coordinate their activities with their friends spread across the globe. We will do the best we can, they added.
