Kochi: A musician with Indian roots is part of the Australian World Orchestra which will perform in Kochi on Tuesday. He is Sagar Nagaraj, a young violinist.

The orchestra, which is set to present a feast of Western music in the city, had enlisted Sagar in the Indian leg of its tour considering his talents and the promise he shows.

Reacting to his inclusion in the tour, Sagar says, “It is a big honour. I have been following this band since 2011. Performing with experienced musicians will give me an opportunity to learn more,” he says.

Son of a Karnataka couple who migrated to Australia, Sagar started learning violin at the age of 8. He became a member of Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2012. He is now part of Willoughby Symphony Orchestra also.

The event in Kochi is on September 25 from 6.30 pm. The venue is Lulu Bolgatty Convention Centre. The organisers said that a part of the collection from the programme will be donated to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. Another portion will be handed over to the special school for autism-affected kids at Thiruvalla under the Centre for Autism.
