Thought for the day: Virtue has no price tag
Good deeds and coins cannot be weighed equally on the same measuring balance.

“I had a dream last night. I was at a supermarket and was stunned to see the price tags on the products. Jeans cost Rs 1 lakh and the price tag on a handkerchief read Rs 4 lakh. Meanwhile, a luxury watch cost just Rs 3000. Surprised, I enquired about these unusual price tags to the salesman.

He said that someone had entered the shop the previous night and shuffled all the price tags and items. He continued, “But now people have gone berserk. They are paying huge amount of money for something with less value, and are not even looking at the ones which are really valuable”. I suddenly woke up with a shudder.

It is not up to others to put a price tag on our thoughts and dreams. You would be ungrateful to your own life if it turns out meaningless by planning it according to the wishes of others or altering it to suit the preferences of someone else. Those who become puppets, dancing to the tune of the decisions and opinions of others, would end up delivering a sad, unimpressive farcical drama called life.

The real value of something would be understood only when you are able to differentiate between things that are necessary and worthless. Do not jumble up values of things without realizing their real merit. If undue significance is given to things which do not have much value, what we lose might be valuable and rare.

It is because we fail to realize the real value of relationships or ideals that we get rid of our helpless parents at old age homes with a cheaper price tag attached to them, or give up the morals, ideals for sake of temporary and short-lived gains. Good deeds and coins cannot be weighed equally on the same measuring balance.
