Thought for the day: Realize the worth of life
The value of a thing depends on its content and the aim it is required to fulfill.

Once a motivational speaker, while conducting a session, removed his golden ring and asked his audience whether anyone wanted the ring if it were for free. Almost everyone in the audience raised their hands. The speaker then threw the ring on the floor and stamped on it and enquired whether there were any takers for the ring now. Those who raised their hands before had done the same.

Now he took a hammer and struck the ring, making it flatten. He then asked whether they still wanted the ring, which looked damaged, now. The same hands shot up again. “You do realize that even if the ring looks damaged, the gold indeed is precious. Then why don’t you realize the true value of your own lives?” asked the motivational speaker.

The value of a thing depends on its content and the aim it is required to fulfill. Real gold looks significantly different from the fake one, and its function too is different. A person with real knowledge wouldn’t bother much about their physique and appearance.

Life is not a farcical play where the actors don meaningless garbs and play to someone else’s tunes. Instead, every moment of your life is precious and is destined to do something meaningful. We should realize the real worth of our lives, determine our means and aims, and head forward in the most amazing way.

Everyone would have a sad tale of dejection, failure or solitude in their lives. None can defeat us if we realize ourselves or what our real worth is.

Those who don’t understand their own merits and morals would frivolously try to imitate others. They are likely to bow down to pressure and easily give in to judgments made by others about them. Not realizing their own worth, they would slowly fall into the abysmal depths of despair.

The real value of life is determined by one’s ability to mould themselves into confident persons who can build their own meaningful lives. It is up to us to determine our value and it shouldn’t be given away to others.
